The title of the new record is inspired by the wonder of how the human body heals itself - a miraculous process that we pay little attention to and by which the artist feels enthralled. Recorded in the wake of a seismic shift in her life following a move from New York to Los Angeles, where she is now based, the release sees her embrace her new locale and drawing on the input of three exciting collaborators she’s nurtured long and deep friendships with: Jónsi (Sigur Rós), Mary Lattimore and Nosaj Thing, all of whom are also based in the city and gently nudge out at the edges of Barwick’s organically-evolved sound.
Known for her stunning live performances, which have gained incredible praise over the years, she has supported and performed with artists including Bon Iver, Grouper, The War On Drugs, Sigur Ros, Sharon Van Etten, Flying Lotus, Angel Olsen, Mas Ysa, Yoko Ono and Nat Baldwin. The best musical mavericks never sit still for long. They mutate and morph into new shapes, refusing to be boxed in. Floating Points has so many guises that it’s not easy to pin him down.
Floating Points’ first album in four years, Crush, twists whatever you think you know about him on its head. It’s the producer at his most “unhinged,” he says, a tempestuous blast of electronic experimentalism whose title alludes to the pressure-cooker of the current environment we find ourselves in. It’s the sound of the many sides of Floating Points finally fusing together: the carefree selector, the considered composer and the passionate label curator. But it’s also a sound that, while it’s born out of despair and frustration with the overwhelmingly dark forces around us, manages to provide some hope for compassion. Crush on that.

Marie Davidson is a Canadian electronic producer and performer set to release her album "Working Class Woman" on 5th October 2018 via Ninja Tune. "Working Class Woman" is the Montreal-based producer's fourth and most self-reflective record to date. Mining Italo Disco, proto-industrial and electro influences, leadened with a gut-punching weight, make the record more visceral than any she's released before. Industrial heaviness is balanced by Davidson's spoken text (rather than spoken word) dark, textured soundscapes are counterweighted by statements that carry a darkly humorous edge, making observations on both aspects of club culture as well as more oblique critiques of the modern world.
New 2018 album! Shadowy techno 'n' hazy synth noise from the Hamburg producer, for fans of Daphni and Actress. On Ninja Tune.
